Dianthus ‘Green Trick’
This is a fantastic plant that I use very successfully at the front of borders to lift what can be quite a difficult area to fill and this plant has great character and the acid-green is such a fabulous colour. It is also a great cut flower as it acts as a sharp contrast to many of the richer coloured flowers and easily lasts 7 days in a vase if conditioned first. These round fluffy pom-pom like heads are so tactile that children just can’t resist touching them.
The plant is sterile so can only be grown by propagation and hence can be more expensive. However, do think about investing in a few plants and then you can take cuttings yourself and increase your stock of this fantastic plant.
Dianthus ‘Green Trick’ here seen in an Autumn bouquet with Gladioli, Cosmos, Zinnia, Dahlia, Verbena bonariensis and Daucos Carrota – a lovely mix of annuals, perennials and bulbs.
